Just kidding I'm a good employee.
Okay so this morning at 5 AM I got up to do Yoga. As I was getting out of bed I thought, "Um, okay, who are you? Why are you getting up at 5 am?" And I answered, "Cause I'm HARDCORE!"
Which I completely am.
It was weirdly energizing getting up and doing Yoga. It will be even MORE energizing when I get up tomorrow and jog. Wooo!!!
P.S. I went for a walk/jog after work so yesterday was day 1. Thus the title of this entry.
Anyway, I was doing some research last night about preparing for a marathon and I ran into a lot of scary words like: cross-training, and strengthening your core, and toe walks, and leg circles, and hitting a wall. In addition to that I received an email from a friend this morning who has run a marathon informing me that if it doesn't hurt, you're not doing it right.
Scary stuff.
Now, it might not seem scary to those of you who know what all those things are, but to someone who rather likes not feeling pain, it's a little daunting. I need more resources. How DO I strengthen my core? And what the hells bells is cross-training?
These are questions that need an answer. I'll do a little studying and let ya'll know tomorrow.
Pilates really focuses on strengthening core. Its completely true about the core. Obviously you can tell that the core is is obviously vital. If the core isn't in shape than nothing else will be. As for tips. I will ask my hubby. He is a complete nerd about exercise. In fact he is getting his masters in it. I can guarantee I can back with some good info.
ReplyDeleteI actually do check your blog regularly, so yay for a new post! And way to go with your goals. I will never set a goal to run a marathon. Ever.
ReplyDeleteP90X will kick your trash, but it will DEFINITELY help you cross-train and strengthen your core like nothing else. I wouldn't recommend starting it until you've done some other things first though. I was in good shape when I started it, and it still left me VERY sore and hurt my back. Your body definitely needs to be ready for it.
Pilates would be a good place to start. You can find lots of different levels of it. This might be totally cheesy, but when I was pregnant with Annalyn I actually did the Total Body Workouts online on BYU TV' website. The girls is quite the character, but they're actually good workouts.
Anyway...there's my advice. You can do it! We miss you like crazy.
Sally! HAHA I was wondering if that email freaked you out.You will figure out what i mean by if doesnt hurt your doing it wrong once you get into training! cross training is workouts that are aimed towards in your case running. "yoga, pushups, situps, swimming, biking" Im looking forward to seeing your progress!
