You know how so many people see the LDS church as a church full of regulations and rules that keep us from having fun? And you know how when you're living the gospel you realize that you're not tied down, but free? Free from addiction or contention. It definitely doesn't make your life easier, but you see things more clearly and positively. The world holds a lot more hope, and light. You start to live in faith, rather than living in 'what ifs'.
I've been thinking about this concept more and more as I'm realizing how out of control I've felt myself to be. I'm capabale of so much more yet I spend my days giving excuses as to why I've decided not to achieve anything. I've spent so much of my life believing I'm incapable or unworthy.
The truth? I am capable. And that is why I've decided that I'm going to run a marathon! The best part? You're going to hear about it every day. I'm calling it my 549 Days to Freedom! Mostly because I want to be ready for a marathon in a year and a half. Part of this blog is to be upfront and honest about where I'm at and what I'm achieving. I'm entering this with basically zero experience and zero knowledge so whatever help you guys have to offer would be fantastic. If you've run a marathon I could really use any input or training advice you have. It takes a really humble (and pretty) person to admit they need help, and I can't think of a better way to get it than from loved ones.
GOALS: I have goals already set up. Weekly, monthly, and yearly. This week I'm going to run three times with a big run on saturday. By the end of this month I would like to be able to run a full mile (that's definitely how out of shape I am). In May I plan to run a 10k. In a year, I plan to run a half marathon. In a year and a half we have the big one. The marathon.
Motiviation: I am going to gain freedom from the voice inside me that's telling me I'm incapable. I am going to accomplish something that I've admired others for for years. I am going to run a marathon.
Resources: So far I have a runners magazine and the internet but I'm still searching!
Anyway, so now you know. This is the start of something big. This is the start of something life changing and now you're all apart of it! Congratulations. I bet this is a pretty special day for you.
Okay, I love you guys.
Running song of the day:
I am totally amazed! But absolutely positive you can succeed. Since we are surrounded by marathon freaks, I've always wondered what it would be like. Saralyn's sister, Cheryl has run many marathons. She could give you lots of tips. You go girl! Are you coming to St. George to run the big one?
ReplyDeleteSally wally bear... yep don't know where that came from, BUT I got so EXCITED when I saw you blogged. Your blog=hilarious and inspiring!
