I wrote this a little after Christmas and then got caught up with life. But I figured I'd post it anyway with the approriate updates in parentheses. Enjoy.
I love pretending that all of you are waiting anxiously for my blog posts and then glowing with a sort of stalkerish admiration as you read them. Makes me feel special in a creeped out way.
So since I posted...a lot has happened here are some of the highlights and low...lights...
We finally got internet in our new house so that Ryan can study for the academy. Which, oh yeah, surprise! He's going back to the academy. On Monday, actually. We both have a mixture of excitement and dread. Knowing what's coming can be a source of comfort and anxiety. You know what's coming so you know what to prepare for but you also KNOW what's coming...and it's coming on Monday. Despite all the nerves, we're feeling positive. Sometimes when you go through hard things your brain does this nice thing and just goes on auto pilot. I feel mine slipping already so we're well on our way. (He's been in the academy for a month now and is doing great. He's standing out in a really good way since he's already been through it. Anyway, his big midterm test is this Thursday. Pray please!)
Christmas was a roller coaster for Ryan and I. I had the stomach flu and I'm completely useless when I'm sick so I pretty much clobbered all of Ryan's holiday with my illness. He was really sweet. We did have Christmas at our house which was nice. All of Ryan's immediate family came, plus Kenny's girlfriend. I really wish I had been more conscious cause I'm still discovering presents I forgot I had even unwrapped that day. A couple of the things we came away with though were: an xbox which might possibly be our demise, Ryan got all the seasons of Friends, I got the 6th season of Doctor Who, I got some pajama jeans (I don't care what you say, they're amazing), Ryan got slippers, I got a way sweet jacket, Ryan got a football, and I got a gift card to Ulta. It was a pretty good first Christmas together.
Our New Year/Our Anniversary was pretty cool. We went up to Lewiston, CA where Ryan's folks have a cabin. They rented one out for us that was SO amazing. I should have taken pictures for ya'll but I didn't. The best part about it was the fact that we could use the heat all night and day long. It was so wonderful. The hilarious part about it was that it's falling into an old mine. So when you walked you found yourself sort of falling into the kitchen. Absolute comedy. For our anniversary Ryan gave me the Mystery Science Theater Collection of the Gamera films and I gave him season 7 of The Office. We're so romantic. Really though, anything Mystery Science Theater is a great gift. Anyway, we spent New Years playing 31 (where I almost won $2.40) and Apples to Apples. We had a great New Years kiss (which is very crucial) and we're hoping to party it up seeing as this is the year where we all die. Isn't that right? The Mayan calendar ends or something? Oh well. (Re-reading this I'm realizing what an absolute NERD I am. Mystery Science Theater? Doctor Who? Next thing you know I'm going to be writing my blog in Klingon).
Okay so that's the end of that little bit that I wrote after Christmas. I was reading over my old blog posts and I realized HOW LITTLE YOU ALL KNOW ABOUT ME!! My gash! Okay, so here's the biggest updates in our lives.
1. We moved. Again. To basically a farm. The couple that we bought Penny from has another house on their property that we've been renting since October.
Pros: We like our neighbors. We get to play with goats and puppies. We have a fantastic yard. We live in the beautiful country. My new job is 10 minutes away and I completely LOVE my co-workers. The job doesn't pay much, but it's nice having a positive environment.
Cons: I literally cannot think of any other than we live next to the rich part of Sacramento. Which means, everything is so expensive and the nearest Wal Mart is a trillion miles away. But it's okay. We're doing our best.
2. Ryan is in the academy, which you already know, but what you don't know is that now we're relying on my income alone. YAY! And I'm making less than I used to. YAY! And our rent is more than our old place. YAY!! Short story: We're even more poor. But you know, that's the great thing about the church. Our new bishop has been very loving and very supportive and of course we've had lots of help from family. It's been very humbling and somehow the Lord is helping us through.
3. I love my dog. The puppy phase was so hard, but she was so worth it. She's so cute and getting sweeter by the day. She still has a lot to learn, but we just think she's the best.
4. I'm starting something big. Something so big that it requires a whole other blog post. Stand by.
...I'm not pregnant...
