There are things about all of us that nobody really knows about. There are things that we indulge in without the knowledge or permission of others. Sometimes we get caught and have to explain, “No, I wasn't watching Daisy of Love. Psh. I don’t even like reality TV! Ew!” Or, “Oh, my friend must've left her Michael Bolton CD in here.” Or my personal favorite, “What? There are no brownies left? What the? Must've been the cat!”
Needless to say, we all keep secrets and we all have those tiny things that make us happy or put us in an absolute state of contentment. This post was inspired by a song I found by my new favorite band, The Weepies called Nobody Knows Me At All.
So here’s my list. I hope it makes you smile or at least makes you think of those little things in your life that you keep to yourself. If you feel so inclined or inspired, feel free to post your own list :)
1. I love singing spirituals in the shower. Something about the echoey walls makes it seem like an appropriately reverent place. Despite the nakedness, of course.
2. I love rolling the windows down in the car on a cold day and blasting the heat. Cause it’s not like in the Summer when you roll the windows down and everything feels nice. Sometimes when it’s cold you want the windows down to enjoy nature without having to freeze your butt of as compensation.
3. I love the grin Ryan gets on his face when he’s annoying me.
4. Whenever I playfully accuse Ryan of doing something he’ll start laughing hysterically which I’ve decided means one of two things. A: I’m right about what he’s being accused of or B: He used to be a spy and during that time he trained himself to laugh whenever being accused of something during an interrogation. Although it drives me insane, I can’t seem to get enough of it.
5. When the wind blows on a summer day I love to close my eyes and focus on the way it rolls off my face. I picture it in my head as it hits my face and swirls around my hair. Makes me feel thin and light.
6. I love when the sun beats against my eyelids and makes everything red. I love the way it pinpricks my body with heat as if thawing out the winter ice in my blood. Before I got married, I used to sleep with the blinds open so the sun would wake me up. Most people probably think that’s insane but it’s my most favorite thing in the entire universe.
7. I like watching movies on my laptop when I’m in the bathroom. When I was at college I always felt so awkward walking out of the bathroom with my laptop and running into roommates.
8. Some days I love stupid Ke$ha and Justin Bieber and super flaming gay Glee and maybe even the Jonas Brothers a little. Other days I sit there and badmouth their music like a Baptist hatin’ on Harry Potter. Some of you who also like their music will try and comfort me. The rest of you will mock me and even think less of me. I’m prepared for both so bring it on.
9. I love the smell of campfires, nail polish, gasoline, and cut grass. Campfires remind me camping (duh) which always seems like a good idea at the time but then wares on you after the second day. I always look back on camping experiences fondly and for some reason desire to have more, regardless of the fact that I know that they will end badly in some way. The smell of nail polish excites me and makes me feel pretty. Gasoline is a smell I shouldn’t enjoy yet I do because it is the smell of freedom, vacations, and lawn mowers, which, if you didn’t know, I absolutely love. Cut grass smells of summer, and baseball, and the band Chicago, and riding bikes.
10. I’ve never had a hard time cutting people out of my life. Now this may sound heartless but let me tell you why. For one, I see it as less of a heartless thing and more of a defense mechanism. Life moves quickly and people move quicker. You see roommates and friends come and go and if you’re strongly attached, the goodbye hurts all the more. My other point is that people have their place in our lives. They make an impact, whether deep or small, and then sometimes you need to move on. You can’t always keep connections with someone who’s life is on a different track. And I’m not saying, you can’t keep connections when you’re miles away from one another. Miles don’t matter. It’s the way your life takes you emotionally, spiritually, and socially that leads you away from others. There will always be people in my life, other than my family, who I will never find myself growing apart from. The deeper the impact the more likely they will stay with me forever..I hope J. Funny enough this habit, while being useful in tearful goodbyes, is not very useful when making friends. Go figure, right?
11. I like to brag about the way I tie my shoes. Why? Because it’s awesome. BAM.
12. Kiki’s Delivery Service is probably one of my most favoritest movies ever in life. Yes, it is anime. Get over it. It’s got more depth than most movies I’ve seen and I found myself connecting with it in so many ways. And come on. You can’t connect with How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, or The Wedding Planner (weird how I chose two movies with the same leading man. I honestly didn‘t catch that until thirty seconds ago). Give me a break! How in any way do those movies resemble our lives? You know I have to admit though, the biggest reason that I like any movie or book or music is the connection I find with it. I can’t connect with Jennifer Lopez or Reese Witherspoon. It just aint gonna happen.
13. Remember when Beanie Babies were popular? Yeah, me too. I remember how all my friends were leaving the tags on them because they said that, “One day they’d be worth money.” I felt a little bit more attached to my Beanie Babies than that. I used to cut their tags off because in my mind I was ‘setting them free’ or relieving then from the stress of one day being sold. Toy Story sure screwed up a whole generation of children.
14. I love Zombies. Not sure why. I found a zombie version of the Night Before Christmas and nearly hyperventilated I was so excited. I love Zombies so much that me and Ryan even discussed our plan for if a Zombie Apocalypse were to ever take place. Hey, you never know.

15. I love my pets fluffy and my babies chubby. The fatter the better. That’s why I love when Eva sits on the edge of the balcony cause her fat spills over the side and makes her look soooo fluffy. Fat is adorable.
There you are. I know it’s long. But I did include some pictures so you can’t complain TOO badly :). Anyway, you guys are good kids. I miss you all.
Happy news of the day: We paid our rent. Phew!
Annoyance of the day: I don’t start work till Monday. Everyone pray for me.
P.S. Happy Easter from Wal Mart. Yes...those are all boxes of soda.

I think you meant Kate Hudson instead of Reese Witherspoon. (judge judge judge) But uh... I mean, I've never seen that movie of course. pfft, someone told me she was in it... >.> Um... (deflect deflect deflect) ya... someone told me. But I do openly admit to Kiki. That show is awesome. If you watch the Japanese version, while she's trying to save Tombo, the crowd all chants "ganbare, ganbare ganbare!" to kiki. It's the best. <3 you Sal
