Hello again. We tried to go to the temple twice this past week or so and have failed terribly. First we wanted to go to the Sacramento temple and right as we got there Ryan realized he forgot his temple bag. Fail number one. A couple of days later we planned to go all the way to Oakland (my favorite temple) and upon arriving found that the temple is closed till April or something strange like that. Fail number two. On the upside, we got to spend all day in San Francisco giving us fun memories and YOU guys a lot of fun pictures. I know you've all been stalking me so this should be a pretty exciting day for you! *wink*
Trying to get the temple in the background
Pretty Oakland temple :)
Anyway, while we were in San Francisco we went to the USS Hornet which is a retired WWII carrier. You know, the big ships that hold all the planes 'n stuff? It was pretty incredible to see inside this homie. I swear the engine room boggled my mind and the way the ship is designed is surprisingly beautiful. You can't help but appreciate this intricate machine. I'll be honest though, my favorite part was the giant kitchen appliances made especially for cooking up food for tons of hungry soldiers. Check it out...
Giant ladel...you could pretty much serve up my face in that thing.
Giant mixers
Chillin' in the engine room...
I thought I was being so hilarious sticking my head through this giant wheel until Ryan gave me this face as he was taking the picture as if regretting our eternal marriage. The joke is on him, right?
With the engine "Shirley" :)
This is the catapult room. I wont bore you with the details but pretty much they hook the planes up to a catapult so that it will eject them off the run way faster instead of running right into the ocean. Smart idea. Anyway, I don't know what these barrels are for but I thought it was funny that they all had different types of alcohol painted on the side. The farther ones say gin and beer in case you were wondering.
Oh no! We're in the brig! You can tell we're super depressed by
our big smiles and my thumbs up.
I love that you can see the city in the background. San Francisco is so beautiful from afar
We like to party it up on WWII Aircraft carriers
Pretty awesome view...
After we got off the USS Hornet we went down to the city and had dinner at Bubba Gumps on Pier 39. On our way there we passed my new fishery. That's right friends and family. I have a famous fishwich that has, in case you didn't know, earned me thousands of dollars. And no...you can't have any of my fortune. Anyway, so that was our fun trip! I didn't get a lot of pictures from the city but it's aight. I hope you enjoyed.
Happy thought of the day: We have a new Kitty! She found me on the other day when I was going for a walk and followed me home. She's a sweet heart and probably one of two kitties that I have ever liked in the whole wide world. I can't touch her, play with her, or even let her in the house cause I'm allergic but she's adorable. We keep her out on the deck in a cute little bed we made for her. We like her a lot :)
Annoyance of the day: Groceries are so expensive. Also our apartment reached subzero temperatures tonight. I was wearing my winter coat and shivering under the pale light of my computer like some psycho planning to bomb the white house or something. Can I get in trouble for saying something like that? Eh...don't care...
Love the pictures. And you're right--I'm stalking your blog like crazy. Wish I could stalk YOU!!
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome post! I love San Francisco! I love to see what you are doing. That big boat thing looks SO cool! I am so glad you guys are having a good time.
ReplyDeleteI love the pics, too! The kitchen thingys were amazing. I always loved making the trip to San Fran. I love the ocean so driving to find it once in awhile was very rejuvenating! Your blanket should be there by Wed. Hope that helps keep you warmer. I can't stand the thought that you are freezing. You will get sick and then you won't be able to go to the Dr. because you don't have insurance and ... (Just me, doing my job) I love that you haven't given the blog thing up. It's a great way to connect with my girls.
